Everything Ready: Ondaland Reopens with a Three-Day Season Kick-Off

Ondaland in Vicolungo will reopen its gates from Saturday, May 30 through Tuesday, June 2, before launching its full daily operating season from Saturday, June 6. The reopening marks what the park describes as a major innovation for the European water park industry during its 21st season since opening in June 2005.

“Starting this year, guests will be able to access Ondaland’s attractions using our ‘Zero Queues Under the Sun’ system,” explains Managing Director Daniele Vailati.

“Until now, similar technology had only been introduced in the United States, at Volcano Bay, the Universal Orlando Resort water park in Florida.”

Eliminating Long Queues

The new system is designed to make guests’ experience more comfortable.“Our goal is to eliminate long queues under the sun and transform waiting time into an opportunity for fun and relaxation,”says Vailati.
The technology relies on Near Field Communication (NFC) integrated into a wristband provided free of charge at park entry.When guests arrive at a popular attraction, they simply tap their wristband at the entrance gate to reserve their place.
If the attraction has already reached its queue capacity, the system automatically assigns a return time.
This allows visitors to make better use of their day.
“Instead of standing in line under the sun, guests can relax in the lagoons, enjoy the wave pool, watch live shows or simply sunbathe,”Vailati explains.
“At the scheduled time, they simply return to the attraction, where the system guarantees them priority access.”

Premium “Skip the Line” Wristband

Ondaland is also introducing an upgraded option.

“The premium version of the ‘Zero Queues Under the Sun’ wristband is called ‘Skip the Line’,” Vailati says.

The premium service can be purchased online and provides dedicated express access to the park’s main attractions. It will become available from Saturday, June 6.

Lifeguard Shortage Before the Season

The greatest challenge leading up to the 2026 opening was the shortage of qualified lifeguards.

“The Milleproroghe decree introduced a requirement that only adults may serve as lifeguards,” Vailati explains.
