Ondaland, Italy’s largest water park, officially opened its season on Saturday,
ten days later than planned.
“The heavy rainfall over the past few weeks forced us to postpone the opening,” explain owners and managing directors
Daniele Vailati and
Roberto Marra. “In 2023, the season began on May 20.” The extensive redevelopment and introduction of several new attractions are expected to play a key role in attracting visitors.
Record Attendance and New Ambitions
“In 2023 we set a new attendance record with
200,000 visitors,” say Vailati and Marra. “This made Ondaland the
second most visited water park in Italy, behind
Caribe Bay in Jesolo and ahead of
Aquafan in Riccione.”
A New Look for the “Grande Ola”
The park’s iconic
Grande Ola wave pool has undergone a complete transformation.
“The renovation of Ondaland’s most representative attraction was designed to immerse guests in an atmosphere that combines
science fiction, steampunk aesthetics, and the legendary world of Atlantis,” explains Daniele Vailati.
A series of spectacular performances featuring
international artists will accompany the attraction, creating visually striking effects inspired by the atmosphere of
Tomorrowland.
A Hot-Air Balloon Takes Flight
One of the season’s most eye-catching additions is a
hot-air balloon, which will rise approximately
20 metres into the air each day.
“At exactly noon, the balloon’s ascent will be accompanied by performances from artists dancing while suspended around ten metres above the ground.”
This daily event will coincide with the activation of the park’s famous
two-metre-high waves in the Grande Ola.
“Safety standards are observed with the utmost care,”
Vailati emphasizes.
New Family Entertainment
The popular
Pirate Lagoon children’s area will feature a brand-new exclusive production of the musical
Rapunzel.
The artistic team behind the family show previously worked on productions starring
Lorella Cuccarini, continuing Ondaland’s investment in high-quality live entertainment.
Lodge & Spa Vicolungo
Another major addition is the opening of
Lodge & Spa Vicolungo, allowing guests to extend their stay beyond a single day at the park.
The new accommodation includes:
- 14 themed wooden igloo-style lodges suitable for couples and families;
- a wellness area featuring:
- wooden hot tubs with hydromassage,
- a glass sauna,
- Scottish showers,
- and a new-generation barbecue area.
